RAIBC Members Contest
Hi Everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the RAIBC Summer contest! If any of you have any remarks about it, I would be happy to hear them.
I would like to thank the operators who took part and sent in their logs.
I was saddened to see that I did not receive any SWL reports, I thought it would interest some SWL’s but it was not to be.
Conditions at the end of July were quite good on the lower HF bands, and good DX could be found on the higher bands with patience and hard work!
The Contest rules allowed operators to submit a log for just one hour operating per day for the week.
The Club Nets were a rich source of points, and the Nets during the week were full of operators exchanging Membership numbers. Even though not everyone submitted a log, it caused a good deal of interest.
The eventual winner's tactics were to chase the big points by working stations outside Europe. Second place was achieved by primarily working within Europe on 40 and 80 metres.
O.k. then down to the results of the contest:
In first place with 523 points was Tony Franklin M0BPL. Tony worked 56 countries, had 117 QSOs, including Japan and over 20 into the US.
Well done Tony! A great effort.
In second place with 363 points was Kelvin Marsh M0AID Kelvin worked 31 countries, and had 85 QSos.
Good try Kelvin!
In third place with 178 points was Quentin Cruse GW3BV Quentin achieved this tally using no more than 10 watts.
Well done Quentin!
A special mention goes to Irene GM0FTX in 4th place.
A very good try Irene, flying the flag for the YL’s.
Well done all of you, and once again, thanks for taking part, let’s hope that when we run the next contest even more interest will be generated!
I apologise for not taking part myself as we had a death in the family.
That’s all for this time. Douglas 2075
